TrueMotif / GrowMotif / Android research product
A prenatal-support program, shaped into a conversation.
We helped TrueMotif turn its prenatal-support program into an Android app, with a conversational experience shaped around the client’s coaching content. Working with TrueMotif and the University of Oregon, we translated a research-led program into a mobile experience.

01 / The challenge
A program has a voice. An app needs a rhythm.
TrueMotif brought a prenatal-support program and wanted a mobile experience for further testing and delivery. The client’s priority was an interaction that felt closer to a thoughtful conversation than a sequence of automated prompts.
More about the challenge
The work needed to translate the program’s voice into message structure, pacing and response options.

Research partnership
TrueMotif + University of Oregon + Twenty Ideas
Research expertise, a program with a purpose, and the product design and engineering to bring it into an everyday experience.
02 / Product work
Give the program a conversational form.
Coaching content, thoughtful pacing and response choices come together in the Android experience.
03 / Inside the work
Design the conversation, not just the interface.
We designed and developed the Android experience with the client’s content and coaching approach. User feedback informed how messages were divided, how pauses worked and how responses were presented.
The system was also designed for change. Content and appearance could evolve without treating the initial version as the final expression of the program.
04 / A product decision
Communicating authentically, virtually
We helped refine scripts into shorter messages organized around individual thoughts. Conversational pauses, expressive elements and response choices were explored through user feedback to give sessions a more natural rhythm.
05 / A product decision
Built to grow & evolve
The app’s structure supports changes to content and appearance. The client also saw potential to adapt the approach to other health-support uses.

06 / Our contribution
