01 / The challenge
Translate personal coaching into a self-led experience.
Rachel Efron wanted to make her coaching approach available in a self-paced mobile experience. The product needed to feel supportive and personal while giving users a practical way to pursue creative goals.
More about the challenge
The challenge was to translate a human-led program into activities, recommendations and feedback without making the interface get in the way of the creative work.

Setting the tone
Muzi needed to put users into an open and creative state of mind, while also keeping them motivated and focused. That meant evoking the freedom and messiness of hands-on creation, without compromising usability and accessibility. Through ongoing experimentation and client feedback, we successfully balanced these goals by combining a foundation of organic textures, vibrant colors, and custom illustrations with a clean, high-contrast UI (fonts, design elements, and navigation structure), for an overall effect that is inspiring and goal-oriented.

03 / Inside the work
Start with the artist’s goals.
Discovery explored adjacent products and included interviews with target users about goals, concerns and available time. These insights informed feature priorities and the proposed experience.
We worked with the client to define an MVP and a longer-term product direction. The final delivery was a full-fidelity interactive prototype, a design system and custom assets ready for implementation.

Visualizing goals & growth
The program that inspired Muzi was designed to help creatives identify personal areas for development across five dimensions of the creative process. In her in-person sessions, the client had delivered feedback and encouragement to participants throughout the coaching process, but now we needed a way to track and communicate a user’s progress in the app format. Playing on the concept of sparking creativity, we devised a responsive “spark” chart to convey the user’s growth over time, helping them stay motivated and on-track.

05 / A product decision
A framework for the future
The proposed onboarding and membership structure considered how the product could grow beyond the initial program. Community and collaboration were future possibilities in the roadmap.
06 / Our contribution
A coaching approach,
made tangible as a product.
Muzi’s founder brought the creative-development program. We used interviews and product research to shape an experience around artists’ goals, concerns and available time.
The delivery included a full-fidelity interactive prototype, a design system and custom visual assets. The spark chart, onboarding and proposed membership experience gave the team a product direction to evaluate before implementation.
07 / Prototype
Make a creative practice tangible.
A mobile prototype translates a coaching approach into a product people can explore.
