Intrevent / Web product development
An event planner’s workflow, from teams to venues.
We worked with Intrevent to create an event-management platform connecting teams, tasks, vendors and venues around the planner’s workflow.

01 / The challenge
An event is more than a list of tasks.
Event planners coordinate people, places, suppliers and schedules. Intrevent’s team wanted to bring those related activities into one product instead of relying on disconnected tools.
More about the challenge
The challenge was to create an organizing structure that reflected the work of planning an event while remaining flexible enough for different projects.

02 / A product decision
Plan, rinse, repeat
Flexible templates let planners reuse a past project structure or start a new one. Repeatable setup is part of the experience, alongside the work of coordinating an active event.

03 / Inside the work
Design around the planner’s working day.
We spoke with event-management professionals about how they assembled their existing workflows and where switching between programs created friction. Those conversations informed the integrated product.
The platform was put in front of event professionals for testing, and their feedback helped refine the experience. The work connected product structure, interaction design and implementation.
04 / A product decision
Condensing the command center
A shared web application brings team, task, vendor and venue management into the planner’s working view. The product groups the elements of an event so their relationships are easier to follow.

05 / Our contribution
The planner’s workflow,
carried through to the build.
Event-management professionals helped us understand the relationships between teams, tasks, vendors and venues. We translated those relationships into information architecture, user flows and an interactive product.
Testing with event professionals informed the design. Engineering connected the shared web workspace with real-time updates, so the planning experience could account for several people working on an event.
Under the surface: how this project was built
Shared interface
Vue.js supported the web workspace and its mobile-responsive views.
Real-time coordination
WebSockets connected updates through the TypeScript and Node.js application; Redis formed part of the backend.
Data and deployment
The project used PostgreSQL and Docker on AWS.
06 / Product work
Keep the moving parts in view.
Teams, tasks, vendors and venues, organized around the event planner’s work.
